That's me!
A little bit about me

About 15 years ago, I decided to leave a string of well-paying but unfulfilling jobs to follow my passion for creating. With no experience, I worked for free just to get my foot in the door. Six months later, I was a (barely) paid Web Designer and Front End Developer.

For the next three years, I churned out small-scale websites, learning the ropes and laying the foundation for my design career. It was also when I fell in love—gotta mention this or my wife will definitely bring it up at dinner!

My next role was a broad-spectrum UI role in a dev-heavy team. This was priceless for understanding how to communicate with technical folks and when to loop them in on projects (hint: immediately).

As I delved into Product Design in the mid-2010s, I saw my process evolve, adding structured communication and certainty. As a Senior Product Designer, I've experienced the power of design thinking for product evolution, working with global teams on both international and domestic projects. The thrill of brainstorming new directions gets my brain buzzing with ideas before the conversation even ends.

With every role, I've felt growth and a renewed energy for what I do. I've made lifelong friends and continue to get excited about creating new visuals, projects, and components. If that ever changes, I’ll know it’s time for a new adventure.

Web Designer, Front End Developer - Senior Front End Developer

Eager to enter the web design field, I took on this role unpaid for six months.
During this time, I learned the foundations of hand-coded front-end development, SEO, databases, WordPress, and boilerplates, developing my own designs for a small agency. This experience has been invaluable in shaping my digital design career.

Mammoth Digital

Senior UI Designer

Working as the solo designer in a team of developers taught me valuable designer-developer communication skills. I handled broad- spectrum UI work aligned mostly with my familiar website environments but also an introduction to mobile app design responsive websites.
We worked with major clients like Telstra, Place Real Estate, UQ, and The EKKA.

Neds

Senior Product Designer

When I joined Neds, the company was in its early stages with a team of about 25 members. This well-funded startup presented an exciting opportunity to tackle the challenge of disseminating large amounts of information to attract new customers and engage experienced bettors. Although not a gambler myself, I was able to advocate for novice users, bringing a fresh perspective to early-stage discussions with seasoned industry professionals.

As part of a three-designer team, we refined iconography and built out the component library for both the native application and the portable web app, creating cross-product consistency and clarity for the aging UI.Collaborating with Marketing, we implemented visual CTAs for campaigns and generated creative assets for smaller-scale UIs.

With our Product Design team now consisting of two, I focused on building the Paypa Plane brand. This included a logo and brand refresh, along with a significant website revision.
